Cuddle time is better with a healthy pet! Get 20% off vaccines & a free health check.

Are from Bundaberg? Do you have your pet vaccinated? Is your furry friend due for a visit to the vet?  Keeping your pet’s vaccinations current is an important part of their overall health.  Just like us, pets need protection from illnesses that can make them very sick.

Why are Vaccinations Important?

Vaccinations, also called shots, help your pet’s body fight off serious diseases.  These diseases can spread easily between animals, especially in places like dog parks and boarding facilities.  By getting vaccinated, your pet is less likely to catch these illnesses and stay healthy and happy.

How Often Do Pets Need Vaccinations?

Most pets need a vaccine booster shot every 12 months to maintain proper protection.  Don’t delay!  Take advantage of Sugarland Animal Hospital’s special offer: 20% off ALL pet vaccinations during the months of April and May.

What Vaccines Do My Pet Need?

Dog Vaccinations:

At Sugarland Animal Hospital, we recommend the C5 vaccination for dogs.  This vaccine protects against five different diseases:

Parvovirus: This is a highly contagious and potentially deadly virus that attacks a dog’s intestines.

Distemper: This virus causes respiratory problems, fever, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Hepatitis: This disease can damage a dog’s liver and kidneys.

Parainfluenza: This virus is a common cause of kennel cough, a contagious respiratory illness.

Kennel Cough: This highly contagious cough can spread easily among dogs.

Cat Vaccinations:

The recommended vaccinations for cats vary depending on their lifestyle.  Here’s a quick guide:

Indoor Cats (Single Household): The F3 vaccine protects against three diseases: Feline Rhinotracheitis (cat flu), Panleukopenia (feline distemper), and Calicivirus.

Indoor Cats (Multi-Cat Household): The F5 vaccine includes everything in the F3 vaccine, plus protection against Feline Leukemia and Chlamydia. These diseases can spread between cats through close contact.

Outdoor Cats: In addition to the F5 vaccines, outdoor cats should also receive the FIV vaccine. This vaccine helps protect against Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (Feline AIDS), which can be transmitted during cat fights and is especially common in outdoor cats.
