Keeping Your Furry Friend Safe: Pet Vaccinations Explained

Keeping Your Furry Friend Safe: Pet Vaccinations Explained (20% Off This Month!)

We all love our furry friends and keeping them healthy is a top priority. One of the best ways to do that is by making sure they’re up to date on their vaccinations.

When was your pet’s last vaccine?

Most pets need a new set of shots every 12 months to stay safe from nasty diseases. Don’t put off this important visit any longer!  Sugarland Animal Hospital is offering 20% off ALL pet vaccinations this month.

What’s included in a vaccine appointment?

Besides getting their important shots, your pet will also receive a complimentary 14-point health check. This is a great way to catch any potential problems early on.

What vaccines do dogs need?

For our canine companions, we recommend the C5 vaccination. This covers important diseases like Parvovirus, Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, and Kennel Cough.  Here in Bundaberg, Parvovirus is a real concern, and we’ve seen a lot of Kennel Cough cases lately. Getting your dog vaccinated is the best way to keep them safe.

What vaccines do cats need?

For our feline friends, the recommended vaccines depend on their lifestyle.

Indoor-only cats in single-cat homes: These kitties need an F3 vaccine to protect them from Cat Flu (Rhinotracheitis), Panleukopenia, and Calicivirus.

Indoor-only cats in multi-cat homes: These furballs need an F5 vaccine, which covers the same diseases as the F3 but also protects against Feline Leukemia and Chlamydia.

Outdoor cats: On top of the F5 vaccines, outdoor cats should also get the FIV vaccine. This protects them from Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (Feline AIDS), which is spread through fighting and is quite common amongst outdoor cats in Bundaberg.

Feeling overwhelmed?

Don’t worry!  The friendly and knowledgeable staff at Sugarland Animal Hospital can help you choose the right vaccine for your pet based on their individual needs.
