At Sugarland Animal Hospital, we’re proud to be one of the few veterinary clinics in Queensland offering affordable in-house Titre Testing. This is a simple blood test to check if your pet has developed enough antibodies from their vaccinations to actually protect them from illness.
So, what is a Titre Test? A Titre Test is a quick and easy way to confirm if your dog’s immune system is ready to fight off the diseases we vaccinate against. Think of it as a “proof of protection” – especially important for young puppies or dogs who may not be ideal candidates for annual re-vaccination due to health reasons.
Who is eligible for a Titre Test? Puppies – Get Peace of Mind, Just 2 Weeks After Vaccination! Every puppy responds to vaccines a little differently, depending on the antibodies they received from their mum. That’s why we recommend a standard course of three vaccinations (4 weeks apart), with the final shot at 16 weeks of age. Two weeks after their last vaccine, we recommend a Titre Test. It’s a quick nurse visit where we take a small blood sample and check that your puppy is fully covered before they start exploring the world.
Bonus! If your pup’s test shows they aren’t fully protected, we’ll give them another vaccination free of charge to make sure they’re safe.
Adult Dogs – Make Smarter Vaccine Decisions. Titre Testing isn’t just for puppies. It’s also a great option for adult dogs – especially if they have medical conditions or if you prefer not to over-vaccinate.
