Imagine what your mouth would feel like if you never brushed your teeth or went to the dentist. For many dogs and cats, this is a painful reality. More than 80% of dogs and 70% of cats have dental disease by the age of 3. Dental (or periodontal) disease is the most frequently diagnosed health problem in pets.

Signs of dental disease include:

  • Bad breath (Halitosis)
  • Yellow or brown staining (tartar) on the teeth
  • Red, swollen, or bleeding gums
  • Excessive drooling
  • Changes in chewing habits
  • Off their food
  • Loose teeth

We recommend that you have your pet’s dental health examined at least once a year, and we offer this as a Complimentary Service!

Bacteria and food debris accumulate around the teeth and, if left unchecked, will lead to deterioration of the soft tissue and bone surrounding the teeth. This decay can result in irreversible periodontal disease, tooth loss, and expensive dental surgery.

Dental disease can also affect other organs in the body: Bacteria in the mouth can get into the bloodstream and cause serious infections in the kidneys, liver, lungs, and heart. If these problems aren’t caught and treated quickly enough, they can result in death.

Book in your pet’s complimentary dental exam today! We can also help show you how to brush your pet’s teeth recommend foods and mouth rinse that will help prevent plaque build up.

    • Broken teeth
    • Bad breath
    • Reluctance to chew
    • Difficulty in swallowing

  • Can dental cleaning fix my dog's bad breath?

Dental cleaning will not only make your pet’s breath smell better, but it can also help to prevent the development of conditions such as dental disease which can cause issues for other areas and organs of their body.

  • How long does dental cleaning for dogs take?

It depends on the amount of tartar in your dog’s mouth, what underlying dental condition is present, and the number of dental x-rays that need to be done.

We suggest allowing 45 minutes to 1.5 hours for a thorough dental cleaning.

  • Can I opt out of the dental x-rays on my pet to save money?

We highly recommend including the dental x-rays. Skipping the x-rays before cleaning your dog’s teeth means that you’re also ignoring the problems that are not visible to the normal eyes.

Only some of these problems are bone loss underneath the gum line, tooth root decay, and jaw abnormalities.
